The USPD Traffic Unit is a specialized division dedicated to ensuring roadway safety through proactive enforcement, high-speed interventions, and strategic traffic operations. Operating with both marked and unmarked patrol vehicles, our highly trained officers focus on dangerous driving behaviors, high-risk vehicle pursuits, and targeted enforcement to reduce accidents and keep communities safe.

Our Mission

Key Responsibilities

• Traffic Stops & Enforcement – Conducting routine and high-risk traffic stops for violations such as speeding, reckless driving, DUI, and aggressive driving.

• Marked & Unmarked Patrols – Utilizing both visible and covert units to identify and deter dangerous drivers.

• High-Speed Pursuit & Intervention – Engaging in authorized vehicle pursuits and using advanced techniques to apprehend fleeing suspects safely.

• Street Racing & DUI Suppression – Targeting illegal street racing, drunk driving, and other hazardous behaviors.

• Crash Investigations & Reconstruction – Analyzing serious accidents, determining causes, and assisting in prosecution when necessary.

• Traffic Flow & Public Safety Operations – Managing major roadway incidents, special event traffic control, and ensuring smooth and safe road conditions.

Specialized Units & Equipment

The USPD Traffic Unit is equipped with high-performance pursuit vehicles, radar & LIDAR enforcement technology, and aerial support to track and intercept dangerous drivers efficiently. Our officers undergo rigorous training in tactical driving, pursuit intervention techniques (PIT), and high-risk traffic stop procedures to ensure the safest and most effective enforcement strategies.
