One Mission. Every Mile
The United States Highway Patrol (USHP) operates as a specialized, mission-focused element embedded within the United States Police Department (USPD). Its core responsibility is the protection, regulation, and security of the nation’s highways, transportation corridors, and critical mobility infrastructure through a fully integrated law-enforcement and emergency-response model.
USHP Troopers are highly trained law-enforcement professionals specializing in traffic enforcement, roadway safety, high-risk vehicle operations, and incident response. Embedded within the USPD structure, the USHP seamlessly integrates patrol, investigations, emergency response, and interagency coordination to ensure uninterrupted public safety across state and federal transportation networks.
